A few practices into spring ball and the 2022 season is already over for Kentucky cornerback Vito Tisdale. The sophomore from Bowling Green tore his ACL and meniscus, sources told KSR’s Matt Jones. The severe knee injury will likely keep Tisdale on the sideline for 2022, which is his third season in Lexington.

After primarily playing nickel during his first two seasons on campus, Kentucky was experimenting with a move to cornerback this spring.

A former four-star recruit from Bowling Green High School, Tisdale was limited to seven games in 2021, sidelined while officials investigated an incident at an off-campus fraternity party. A grand jury exonerated the DB and his five other teammates. Despite the limitations, Tisdale recorded 19 tackles, a sack and a pass break-up, setting him up for a breakout season in 2022.

Last summer, Tisdale pled guilty to marijuana possession, which is a Class B misdemeanor. Prior to his legal entanglements, he posted 20 tackles and 0.5 tackle for loss in 10 games played as a freshman.

Now, with Tisdale sidelined, the Wildcats may check out their options in the NCAA transfer portal.

Kentucky losses Tisdale two weeks into spring ball

The Wildcats are holding their annual Blue vs. White spring football game on Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m. ET at Kroger Field in Lexington. The game will air on SEC Network+.

According to Kentucky’s press release, admission to the Wildcats’ Blue-White spring game is free to the public. Additionally, Kroger Field will be open seating for the game – with the exception of the stadium’s club level.

The Wildcats are coming off a 10-3 season in 2021, which included a win over Iowa in the Citrus Bowl, and return some key players – including quarterback Will Levis and running back Chris Rodriguez.
