Tip-off between UK and the Commodores is set for 7 p.m. ET live on the SEC Network.

John Calipari announces Kentucky senior guard Sahvir Wheeler is ‘out for a bit’ after minor procedure

Kentucky will be without senior guard Sahvir Wheeler “for a bit” as he recovers from what head coach John Calipari called a “minor procedure” on Twitter. As such, Wheeler will also miss the Kentucky senior night ceremony on Wednesday, as he is recovering.

Calipari added that the procedure Wheeler underwent was not to do with his ankle injury, an ailment that has nagged at him down the back stretch of the season. The procedure took place on Wednesday morning, according to Calipari.

“I hate that Sahvir won’t be able to hear #BBN show him how much we all love him on Senior Day tonight,” Calipari said. “Looking forward to getting him back on the court with us soon!!”

Wheeler played two seasons for Georgia before transferring to Kentucky prior to the 2021-22 season. This year, he’s averaging 7.7 points, 5.6 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Kentucky hosts Vanderbilt at 7 p.m. inside Rupp Arena on Wednesday night at Rupp Arena for senior night.
