Will Levis has earned his fair share of offseason hype after his first season at Kentucky. After plenty of Heisman and NFL Draft buzz, Levis’ latest compliments were paid by another former Heisman level SEC quarterback in Tim Tebow. During SEC Media Days in Atlanta, Tebow included him in the top five of his list of 2022 SEC quarterbacks.

If that’s not enough, Tebow had Levis second overall on the list. He says while he flew under the radar in 2021, his size and gifts won’t make that possible for Levis this year.

“I want to give Jordan (Rodgers) a lot of credit for this guy because, before anyone else was talking about him, Jordan was talking about Will Levis,” said Tebow. “He is bigger than you think, he is way more athletic than he gets credit for, (and) he can absolutely sling it.”

Levis made a name for himself last season in Lexington in his first starting gig. He threw for 2,826 yards and had 33 total touchdowns for Kentucky. Levis bloomed during Liam Coen’s one year as offensive coordinator. He lead Kentucky to a 10-3 record, tied for their second best under Mark Stoops, and a Citrus Bowl victory.

While Coen may be gone for the NFL, not much drop-off is expected for Levis with Rich Scangarello. We’re a ways away from seeing what kind of pro prospect he can be. Still, Tebow says Levis is some offensive pieces away from being great now in college football.

“He is a really, really good quarterback that has the chance of being great,” Tebow said. “And I’m not talking about the NFL, I’m talking about this year for Kentucky. He also needs some receivers, tight ends to step up.”

Another season of progression could mean big things for Will Levis. It could lead to a dark horse Heisman run and lock as a first-round NFL Draft pick. With that said, it’s all about what Levis and his Kentucky teammates do starting Sept. 3 against Miami (OH).
