Will Levis can 'see myself being a franchise QB' for Panthers, Raiders after dinners with both clubs

Kentucky quarterback Will Levis is one of several names being debated at the very top of the upcoming NFL Draft. After a pair of successful seasons in Lexington, Levis returned to the UK facilities for one last waltz with his former wideouts as Kentucky hosted its 2023 Pro Day on Friday. Of course, a slew of former Wildcats performed in front of the mass of scouts, coaches and general managers in attendance. However, the real reason everybody showed up was to watch Will Levis throw the football.

Which he did and did very well. The Levis showcase capped things off at Pro Day as he threw 50+ passes of all different styles to various Kentucky pass catchers. After he got done showing off his cannon, ESPN’s Todd McShay caught up with Levis to ask about the past few days, starting with two important dinners he had on Thursday night — one with the Raiders and one with the Panthers.

Here was Levis on how those meetups went:

“It was good, felt really good. Definitely could see myself being a franchise quarterback for each of those teams. So I mean, great to continue those relationships and they’re only going to get stronger over the next few weeks.”

As for the next few weeks, it will be a lot of grinding away and getting ready for the draft in the Levis household. “I’m enjoying this weekend with my parents then back to the grind on Monday. Back to training, getting ready for the draft,” Levis told McShay when asked about what he plans to do in the next few weeks.

McShay also asked Will Levis what he though of his own performance during Pro Day. Sure, it’s nothing like live action, but Levis did say he enjoyed getting to play catch with his old pals one last time.

“Went well. It was a lot of fun to kind of have that last opportunity with my receivers from last year, just to go out there and have some fun and do routes like we’ve done for the last year and a half,” said Levis. “Great opportunity for them to get in front of the scouts as well. And I thought I did well, it was a lot of fun.”

McShay finished up by asking Levis what his biggest areas of improvement are as the draft draws nearer and teams have been able to give him feedback.

“Yeah, a lot of the times when I’m missing throws or see myself being inefficient on tape, it’s a lot to do with the movement that precedes the throw,” answered Levis. “Not necessarily anything in the upper half but just how I’m getting to the platform to throw sometimes can put me in a disadvantageous situation and just trying to address those things.”
