Los Alamitos (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. and Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star quarterback Pierce Clarkson are two of the top players in Louisville‘s 2023 recruiting class. The two demonstrated their skills on Saturday night in the CIF Open Division title game against San Mateo (Calif.) Serra.

After receiving the snap, Clarkson dropped back and unleashed a long pass. It went over the defensive back’s head and into the hands of Moore Jr., who crossed the goal line for a wide-open touchdown.

Moore Jr. is the No. 95 overall prospect and No. 15 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 8 player in California.

Meanwhile, Clarkson is the No. 244 overall prospect and No. 15 quarterback in the On3 Consensus. He is also the No. 18 player in California.

Louisville’s class is currently ranked No. 21 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 4 in the ACC. The group is led by Moore Jr. and Corona (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star cornerback Aaron Williams, who recorded a pick-six during the game.

Pierce Clarkson and DeAndre Moore Jr. On3 Scouting Summaries

The following are the On3 Scouting Summaries for Pierce Clarkson and DeAndre Moore Jr.:

Clarkson: “Dual-threat quarterback who is competitive while playing in big games against top competition at the high school level. Plays for one of the top high school programs nationally at St. John Bosco in the Los Angeles area. Split time with Michigan State signee Katin Houser as a junior at St. John Bosco. Completed around 60 percent of his pass attempts for 1,416 yards and 16 touchdowns against three interceptions, while also rushing for four touchdowns.

“A good athlete who is capable of picking up chunk gains with his legs. Shows good quickness in eluding the pass rush and can make some plays when things break down. Has been well-coached as a passer. Lacks natural size at around 6-feet tall, 185 pounds. Can be erratic at times in the 7-on-7 setting. One of the older prospects in the 2023 cycle, turning 18 years-old during his junior season. The son of well-known Southern California private quarterback trainer, Steve Clarkson.”

Moore Jr.: “Quick wide receiver with the burst to create separation and pick up yards after the catch. Measured at around 5-foot-11, 190 pounds prior to his senior season. Has strong long speed, running a wind-legal 10.90 in the 100 meters as a junior. Transferred to Los Alamitos High in California for his junior season, teaming up with fellow blue-chips quarterback Malachi Nelson and wide receiver Makai Lemon. Worked both outside and in the slot, but looks most like a slot long-term.

“Uses his burst to quickly get upfield after the catch. Shows good contact balance with the ability to bounce out of and break tackles at the second level. Has the ball skills and coordination to finish through contact. Picks up yards as a rusher on speed sweeps. Also plays defensive back for Los Alamitos. Primarily utilized on short passes as a junior, averaging 14.5 yards per catch. Not as productive as some of his fellow touted wide receivers to date.
