Uniontown (Pa.) Laurel Highlands four-star athlete Rodney Gallagher has picked up an offer from Louisville, announcing the news Thursday on social media.

Gallagher is the No. 91 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He was also a potential DI basketball recruit, but decided in December to focus exclusively on playing football at the next level going forward.

“A lot of it has to do with AAU and how busy that schedule is. It’s hard to do that kind of schedule and also get out and visit these schools and put the time in that I need to do this process right,” Gallagher told BWI. “But also, a lot of basketball coaches just knew that I had football in my back pocket. I feel like a lot of basketball coaches didn’t want to deal with a two-sport athlete nowadays, because they know they can move on quick with the transfer portal and all that kind of stuff.”

Rodney Gallagher would be huge pickup for Louisville

Ellenwood (Ga.) EDGE Cedar Grove Adonijah Green is the lone Cardinals commit in the 2023 cycle. He is a three-star prospect according to the On3 Consensus, but is ranked much higher by On3, where is a four-star recruit and slots just inside the 2023 On300 ranking at No. 296.

Louisville has 14 commits in its 2022 recruiting class, 13 of whom have signed their National Letter of Intents. The class ranks No. 55 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard four-star wide receiver Devaughn Mortimer and Westfield (Ind.) four-star EDGE Popeye Williams are the two four-star prospects in the class.

Williams played in the Under Armour All-American Game and had an impressive week of practice.

“Popeye Williams had flash moments at every practice,” On3 National Analyst Gerry Hamilton said. “The Louisville signee had one of the best first steps among Team Legends players. He plays with a hair-on-fire motor and did everything at full speed. We also saw Williams make some nice plays in the game on Saturday.”
