On Sunday, On3 four-star Daniil Glazkov announced his commitment to Loyola-Chicago. The 6-foot-4 guard from Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy is the Ramblers’ fourth commitment of the 2024 class and the second On3 four-star commitment this week. He joins the No. 76 player in the 2024 On3 150, Seifeldin Hendawy of the NBA Academy Africa. Glazkov is On3’s No. 69 player in 2024.

How we got here

Daniil Glazkov is originally from Russia and moved to the United States prior to the high school season so he could play his final year of prep ball at Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy. For the last couple of seasons, Glazkov played for the Lokomotiv Kuban Youth Team.

Glazkov took official visits to Loyola-Chicago and Oregon State. Programs like Rutgers and LSU were involved as well. Loyola-Chicago got in on Glazkov early and received the first official visit. Head coach Drew Valentine and staff continued to build a relationship throughout the process.

Glazkov and Hendawy, a 6-foot-6 guard, join Loyola-Chicago early signees Temecula (CA) St. John Bosco PG Jack Turner and Houston (TX) Cypress Falls center Brayden Young in the class.

What Daniil Glazkov brings to Loyola-Chicago

Daniil Glazkov is a well-rounded complimentary guard. Standing 6-foot-4 with long arms and a sturdy frame, he is comfortable on the ball, and getting his team into sets. He can also finish plays off the ball with a smooth jump that extends beyond the three-point arc and excellent pace getting downhill. His well-rounded offensive skill set is the most projectable part of his game.

With his ability to dribble, pass, and shoot, Glazkov can play in multiple roles for his team. While not the quickest player, his feel for the game gets him to his spots. When playing with other guys around him, and spacing, he probes the defense well and can get to spots to either rise up or pass away to the defense.

While he is not a guard who puts elite pressure on the rim, he has a crafty way to get toward the basket and finish through contact. The jump shot is smooth with consistent balance points and a repeatable release. Defensively, he understands angles well and he is a good team defender who gives effort.

Glazkov has an excellent frame, with a broad base of skills, and a natural feel for the game.

How Glazkov fits into the lineup

A quick look at the Loyola-Chicago roster and three of their top four scorers will be out of college eligibility after this season. This season, the Ramblers start four players who are between 6-foot-0 and 6-foot-6. The additions of Glazkov and Hendawy fit into the mold of versatile guys who can dribble, pass, and shoot.

They will be given every opportunity to join returning starter 6-foot-5 Desmond Watson. Guards Sheldon Edwards and Jayden Dawson, both part-time starters, also have eligibility after this season. Drew Valentine has a vision for his lineup, spacing with versatility and rim protection.

While Glazkov is not a rim-protector, they have freshman Miles Rubin on the roster. College Basketball Reference tells us this season’s team is 24th in assists per game and 30th in defensive rebounding. They are also 94th in threes made and 82nd in three-point percentage, two numbers I am certain Valentine would like to grow. Glazkov’s comfort on or off the ball with his ability to dribble, pass, and shoot fit the vision.
