LSU Tigers MASSIVE Opportunity to Land No. 1 QB Bryce Underwood | Recruiting News

Belleville (Mich.) Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Bryce Underwood has garnered plenty of attention as the top-ranked prospect in the 2025 cycle. Over 40 programs have offered the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder, but a couple of programs have already separated from the pack, including LSU.

Underwood will be in Baton Rouge on an unofficial visit this weekend, his fourth documented trip to the Bayou and his first since the end of July. The Tigers are squarely in the mix for the signal-caller and could make another impression when LSU hosts Auburn on Saturday.

The Bengal Tiger’s Shea Dixon joined the latest edition of The Inside Scoop to detail where LSU stands with Underwood and more.

“I think they’re certainly in the top group, and if you want to say he’s got a top two or a top three, I could hear all those arguments, but I know that I feel confident that LSU’s in it,” Dixon told On3’s Josh Newberg.

LSU isn’t new to the Underwood sweepstakes

Only the two major in-state programs — Michigan and Michigan State — have had Underwood on campus more than Brian Kelly and LSU. Quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan has been at the center of the Tigers’ push for the QB for some time, giving LSU an edge over some of the other heavy-hitters vying for his pledge.

“This is a guy that Joe Sloan and this staff have been in on for well over a year and he’s been to campus numerous times this offseason and did so three times, with his mom, dad, family, so they’ve got a good feel for what LSU has to offer,” Dixon said.

Michigan has the lead for Underwood, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). He’s made a bevy of trips to Ann Arbor, and with the consistent momentum on the field under Jim Harbaugh, the Wolverines could be tough to edge out in the long run.

“Obviously him being a Belleville kid, he’s in-state for Michigan, they’re another team, Michigan is notable for me. I look going towards this weekend as being really key for LSU…three months away from a potential decision, this could be the last time you get him on campus,” Dixon said. “It also gives him the opportunity to see a game at Tiger Stadium, which he has not done yet. As LSU swings for the fences…this is a guy, you look into a huge visitor weekend at LSU, he’s the headliner.”

Underwood has an On3 NIL Valuation of $439K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
