LSU head coach Brian Kelly revealed some good news for the team on Wednesday’s SEC teleconference. Kelly said offensive lineman Will Campbell has left the hospital following his admittance last Friday and he was able to practice on Tuesday.

Not only is Campbell practicing this week but he has also received clearance and passed the necessary tests to play in the Tigers’ big game on Saturday versus Florida.

“Will was released from the hospital,” Kelly said. “He has cleared all testing. He practiced yesterday and will practice today.”

Campbell was hospitalized during a walk-through on Friday ahead of the LSU-Tennessee game. The freshman had an “episode,” according to Kelly, and early tests revealed it was not life-threatening. Leah Vann of The Advocate added that dehydration might’ve been a factor, among other things.

Campbell was one of LSU’s top recruits in the Class of 2022, a four-star offensive lineman out of Monroe, Louisiana, according to the On3 Consensus. The now-LSU starter was the No. 3 overall recruit out of Louisiana, the No. 2 overall interior offensive lineman and the No. 40 overall player in the nation coming out of high school.

Kelly, LSU prep for Florida night game

LSU came back from an early deficit against Auburn to defeat the Tigers 21-17 on Oct. 1 before falling to Tennessee 40-13 at home last week. Now, the Tigers will head to The Swamp on Saturday to face a Florida team that is 4-1 at home, only losing to Kentucky on Sept. 10.

Players have impressed Kelly with how they handled raucous environments, which goes back to their practice preparation. But he knows how much the crowd impacts the games in Gainesville.

“I think crowd noise has been OK for us,” Kelly said. “We seem to be a little bit more focused and locked in when we get that. You hate to talk in terms of when you turn the music on and you get real loud, the guys pay attention more.

“But the fact of the matter is they did a nice job in their preparation for Auburn. They’re going to have to do that here for Florida because you’re right, it’s a crazy environment and they’re going to have to be locked in this week.”
