Four-star offensive lineman Ethan Calloway of Mooresville (NC) Lake Norman High announced his commitment to LSU Friday afternoon.

The 6-foot-7, 320 pounder chose the Tigers over Georgia, Penn State, and Florida.

Calloway on why he chose LSU

“I’ve told people from day one that I am looking for the right fit. Fit to me means the right people, the right coaches, the right culture and the right teammates. Every school I took an OV to did a great job, but LSU just stood out. I really connected with Brad Davis and that staff and so did my parents. That is big to me. I wanted to stay in Baton Rouge when it was time to come home from the OV so I knew it was right.”

Relationship with coaching staff + their plan for him

“Everyone on that staff has been great. Coach Davis and Carl St. Cyr are the big reasons I am going to LSU. Carl found me and got everything started and Coach Davis saw my potential before anyone else. That really meant a lot to me. Coach Davis never waivers on what he sees in me and what he expects from me. I know I have a lot of work ahead but my gut is telling me this is the right place to develop into the best player I can be.”

The North Carolina offensive lineman joins coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers’ top 10 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star tight end Trey’Dez Green, four-star cornerback Ondre Evans, and others.

Calloway ranks as the No. 215 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 17 offensive lineman and the No. 5 player in the state of North Carolina.

On3 ranks him higher than the industry, as he ranks as the No. 74 player nationally, the No. 10 offensive lineman, and the No. 1 player in North Carolina.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $63K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
