Ja’Marr Chase is athletically gifted. Now, Joe Burrow is praising Chase’s impressive intelligence as well.

“Everybody’s been surprised by how smart he was,” said Burrow, who played a pivotal role in Chase’s drafting. “I told everyone coming in, ‘He’s not going to bust, he’s going to know exactly what to do, he’s going to be a pro.’ And that’s exactly what’s happened.”

From Tigers to Bengals

In Cincinnati, Joe Burrow is reuniting with his favorite target. It’s music to the quarterback’s ears. While at LSU, Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase both had historic seasons. Burrow won the Heisman. Chase won the Biletnikoff. Burrow set NCAA records. Chase shattered SEC receiving marks. The duo both dominated their way to a national championship.

Afterward, Burrow prepared for his rookie season in the NFL. Chase waited his turn. The receiver opted-out of the 2020 college football season. Fast forward, when the Bengals were in position to reunite the duo, they couldn’t resist.

Prior to the draft, Burrow vocalized his love for Chase. The proof was in the numbers. The pairs’ chemistry is off the charts.

Will it translate to the NFL?

While Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Burrow have yet to play their first game together, morale is high. Offensive coordinator Brian Callahan couldn’t say enough about the duo. His exuberance shined through while detailing their relationship.

“You can tell they’ve played together. The cool thing is Joe’s done that with Ja’Marr for two years and this is the third year of doing it. They got a good rapport. You can see it and feel it. They know how to communicate with each other. I think that’s exciting for me. They don’t really need to get to know each other. They do know each other,” said Callahan.

The Cincinnati Bengals saw Andy Dalton and AJ Green tear up the league for years. Their connection led to five playoff appearances and two AFC North titles. Burrow and Chase can reach that and more. They’ve won championships together. Now, Super Bowls are on their radar.

“I’m going to break every record they have.”

Finally, there’s a buzz in the Queen City. An excitement. The Bengals have new uniforms. Now, they have players whose jerseys are worth buying. Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Burrow are legends in Baton Rouge. Re-united, there’s no limit on the heights they can climb.

Chase isn’t boxing himself in either. His expectations are sky-high. On draft night, he made a proclamation to shatter them.

“I’m going to break every record they have,” Chase said, after receiving his Bengals’ jersey. “That’s my goal, and I’m telling you right now. I don’t know how I’m going to do it, but it’s going to get done.”

Arguably the most dangerous duo in college football history is back together. Records, beware. The Tigers’ boys are Bengals now.
