The LSU Tigers have announced the team’s offensive captain for their top-25 Week 6 matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers. Joining BJ Ojulari, Ali Gaye, and Mike Jones Jr this week will be wide receiver Kayshon Boutte as the Tigers’ captain for the offense. LSU made the announcement Friday afternoon from their Twitter account with this photo of the four players attached.

Boutte entered into the 2022 season as one of college football’s top candidates for the Biletnikoff Award. Unfortunately, it has been a slow first four games for the Tigers’ star receiver. Boutte Has hauled in 11 receptions for 97 yards on the season. He also has one rush for 41 yards. Boutte has yet to find the endzone or be a consistent contributor in LSU’s offensive game plan.

Although Boutte has struggled, LSU has continued to find ways to win games this season and enters the matchup 3-1 and ranked in the top 25. Their lone loss was a one-point defeat at the hands of the Florida State Seminoles in Week 1.

His stats may not represent his talent this season. However, Boutte is still widely considered one of, if not the top wide receivers expected to enter their name enter the 2023 NFL draft. This week LSU and their fans are hoping that their top-ranked wide receiver will break out of his slump in this highly anticipated matchup. If Boutte and quarterback Jayden Daniels are on the same page, the junior wide receiver and offensive captain this week will be well-positioned for a breakout performance.

LSU announces Brian Kelly, family commit $1 million to improved athletic facilities

LSU has announced that Brian Kelly, the team’s head coach, and his family have committed a donation of $1 million to the Tiger Athletic Foundation. This donation will go toward improved athletic facilities.

In particular, Brian Kelly’s donation is going toward the construction of a new and improved athletic training room and recovery suite. This will be available to all student-athletes at LSU, not just the football team. However, it will also go to helping the football team too.

“Investing in the health and well-being of student-athletes is among the most important commitments a coach can make, and my family and I are honored and privileged to contribute to the expansion of our athletic training room and recovery suite,” Brian Kelly said.
