Arlington (Texas) Martin four-star safety Javien Toviano is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the country. On Wednesday, he received an in-home visit from two LSU coaches.

Head coach Brian Kelly and cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples made the trip to see Toviano. The three posed for a picture during the visit.

Toviano is the No. 55 overall prospect and No. 6 safety in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 9 player in Texas.

Earlier in the day, Kelly saw a few Tigers commits. They included Conyers (Ga.) Eagle’s Landing Christian four-star interior offensive lineman DJ Chester and Loganville (Ga.) Grayson three-star safety Michael Daugherty.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, LSU has a commanding lead for Toviano’s commitment at 95%. He has visited Baton Rouge four times.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

LSU currently has 23 commits in its 2023 recruiting class. The Tigers’ group ranks No. 6 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 3 in the SEC.

A 6-foot-0, 185-pound defensive back, Toviano has an On3 NIL Valuation of $156K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Javien Toviano On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Javien Toviano:

“Heady, pure football player who makes an impact in all three phases. Projects as a defensive back long-term with the highest upside likely being at safety. Has good size at 6-foot-.5, 180 pounds with long arms (6-foot-4 wing-span). Instinctive and physical as a defender. Diagnoses and triggers quickly as a run defender. Has very good change of direction with the ability to redirect in coverage, which he backs up with strong agility marks in the combine setting.

“Has performed well in covering some touted receivers at the high school level. Doubles as a running back and makes plays on special teams. Lacks the pure top-end speed of top cornerbacks. Plays faster than he tests, but will need to improve his speed to be a top corner. Physical and on-field skill set lines up best at safety at this time.”
