LSU cornerback Jeremiah Hughes enters NCAA transfer portal

LSU has lost another young and talented defensive back to the transfer portal as Jeremiah Hughes has entered the portal, On3 has learned.

Hughes played in all 13 games last season while seeing action on special teams and defense.

The Las Vegas, Nevada native was ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 47 cornerback in the country in the class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry rankings.

Jeremiah Hughes played 24 snaps at cornerback and 181 snaps on special teams last season. He was a part of the starting kickoff return, kickoff coverage and punt return units in 2023.

As for his high school career, he played both receiver and cornerback in high school. He helped Bishop Gorman to the 2022 Nevada Class 5A state title with a 70-6 win over Bishop Manogue in championship game.

LSU safety Ryan Yaites enters NCAA transfer portal

It has been a busy day for LSU players who were a part of the class of 2023.

In addition to Jeremiah Hughes entering the transfer portal, defensive back Ryan Yaites also entered the transfer portal on Friday.

Yaites played in all 13 games last season as a true freshman. He finished the year with 16 tackles, while contributing on defense and special teams.

Ryan Yaites joined the LSU program as a four-star recruit in the class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry rankings. He was tabbed as the No. 20 safety in the country.

The Texas native played 242 snaps last season, with 124 being on defense and the rest on special teams.

Prior to signing with LSU, he attended John H. Guyer High School in Denton, Texas.

During his senior season of high school, Yaites finished with 63 tackles, 11 pass breakups and a pair of interceptions. As a junior, he recorded 42 tackles and eight pass breakups.

Before coming to LSU, he was named an Under Armour All-American.

Out of high school, Ryan Yaites chose the Tigers over offers from some of the top programs in the country, including Texas and Notre Dame.

LSU is coming off of a 10-3 season under Brian Kelly. The former Notre Dame head coach led the Tigers to 10 wins in each of his first two seasons in Baton Rouge.
