LSU defensive back Colby Richardson was injured in the second quarter of the Tigers’ blowout of the Southern Jaguars on Saturday night. He limped off the field with the assistance of trainers in the second quarter of Saturday night’s game. Tigers head coach Brian Kelly was just recently praising Richardson for how he’s improved his game recently.

LSU is already playing without one of their star defenders on Saturday in edge rusher B.J. Ojulari.

Ojulari was seen in sweats ahead of the Tigers’ Week 2 matchup against Southernaccording to The Athletic’s Brody Miller. He totaled six tackles in last week’s game against Florida State before suffering an injury. The Bengal Tiger’s Billy Embody first reported Ojulari would miss the game.

Ojulari is also one of the leaders for LSU this year and was chosen to wear the No. 18 jersey, which is given to players who best exemplify Tigers football. That’s another reason why his loss is big for Kelly’s group Saturday night.

The Tigers also lost star defensive tackle Maason Smith to a torn ACL that he suffered while celebrating against the Florida State Seminoles on Sunday night.

The Tigers were firmly in control of Saturday night’s game, leading 44-0 with over two minutes remaining in the second quarter.

LSU was also without defensive lineman Ali Gaye in the first half of Saturday night’s game against Southern. He was ejected in the second half of the Florida State-LSU game on Sunday night due to absolutely leveling ‘Noles quarterback Jordan Travis on a play.

The Tigers defeated Southern, 65-17. The game was never remotely close from the beginning. LSU scored 37 points in the first quarter, a program record for the most points scored in a single quarter.
