LSU defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy declares for 2023 NFL Draft

The LSU Tigers are losing another player, but not to the transfer portal. The Tigers’ defensive tackle and Baton Rouge, Jaquelin Roy, has announced his intention to declare for the NFL draft.

Roy announced his decision from his social media account with this message attached.

“First off, I would like to thank God for putting me in the position I am in today without him, none of this would be possible,” wrote Roy via Twitter. “To my family, thank you for your unwavering support. 

…To all my LSU coaches, thank you for pouring endless hours into me. You not only helped me sharpen my craft but allowed me to fulfill my dream of being a Tiger, while wearing the Purple and Gold. Also, a special thanks to Coach O, for recruiting me at a young age and making me work for my offer lol. coach Kane and coach hill, thank you for lifting me up with knowledge and growth as a man and athlete.” 

“At this time after talking with my family and praying about the best decision for me and my future I have decided to follow my dreams and declare for the 2023 NFL.” 

This season for LSU, Roy recorded 49 total tackles, 25 solo, and a forced fumble.

There is no word yet on whether Roy will opt out of LSU’s upcoming bowl game, or suit up one last time for the purple and gold.

LSU lands transfer commitment from Oregon EDGE defender Bradyn Swinson

Former Oregon EDGE defender Bradyn Swinson will transfer to LSU, he announced Tuesday via Twitter. Swinson has spent three seasons at Oregon.

This year, he tallied eight tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Swinson has two seasons of eligibility remaining. In his three seasons with the Ducks, he finished with 35 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, three pass breakups and a forced fumble before entering the transfer portal.

Bradyn Swinson ranks as the No. 32 EDGE defender according to On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings. He played high school football at Douglasville (Ga.) Chapel Hill, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 486 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
