LSU guard Justice “Juice” Hill has stepped away from the Tigers’ basketball team for personal reasons, a school spokesperson confirmed to The Daily Advertiser, according to Koki Riley of The Daily Advertiser. It’s a pretty significant loss for the Tigers, as Hill was averaging 6.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game this year for LSU.

His season-high for the 2022-2023 season came against the Akron Zips, when he poured in 14 points, grabbed two rebounds, and dished out three assists. Hill has averaged 6.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists this year for LSU. He’s also been one of the best passers in college basketball during his career and has averaged over four assists per game. Before joining LSU, Hill played two years for the Murray State Racers.

Earlier in the season, Hill had a beautiful alley-oop to Trae Hannibal against the New Orleans Privateers.

On Wednesday evening, LSU head coach Matt McMahon wanted to further clarify Hill’s leave of absence from the team. “I just want to be clear with Justice Hill, it is not disciplinary situation by any means. He has stepped away from the program for the time being for personal reasons…” McMahon said.

His past two games, Hill had been ice cold from the field, connecting on only two of his 16 field goal attempts. Hopefully whatever the personal issue is for him, he’s able to get it taken care of and return to the team eventually.

The Tigers are coming off a humiliating 40-point beatdown at the hands of the Alabama Crimson Tide. LSU currently sits at 12-4 overall, but they’ve lost four straight. The Tigers did have a big 60-57 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks, which Hill played 19 minutes in.

Hill played his high school basketball for Little Rock Christian Academy (Little Rock, Arkansas).
