Just three days away from the February National Signing Day and members of LSU’s 2024 recruiting class have made a late pitch on social media to bring Timpson (Texas) Five-Star Plus+ athlete Terry Bussey to Baton Rouge.

Bussey is currently committed to Texas A&M, where he pledged in late September. The Aggies have undergone a coaching change, but Bussey met with the staff in College Station last month.

“I’ve been getting to know the new staff,” Bussey said about Texas A&M. “It’s been great building a relationship with coach Elko, coach Ish, and I’m building relationships with other coaches they already have on staff. They’re great guys, great people, they know a lot about football and they’re great football-minded people.”

Bussey visited LSU on Wednesday. He spoke with The Bengal Tiger about the trip.

“It was good to be back to meet the new staff and get around them,” Bussey told On3. “It was a priority to get back there one last time before signing day, it was a really good visit and I’m glad I came out here.”

LSU secondary coach Corey Raymond spent time with the Five Star Plus+ prospect, who has visited LSU a number of times over the past six months.

“Great guy, great coach and he’s done a lot of great things,” Bussey said. “I think he’s a great fit at LSU. We’ve been talking for a couple weeks and I’ve talked to him a couple times. Overall, building a relationship. He’s a great coach. He’s got a lot of tools and tricks he does.”

Bussey is the nation’s No. 11 overall prospect and No. 1 athlete in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 recruit in Texas.

A number of LSU signees in the 2024 recruiting class took to X to try to convince Bussey to flip his commitment.

The group included four-star running back Caden Durham, four-star offensive tackle Weston Davis, four-star linebacker Tylen Singleton, four-star wide receiver Jelani Watkins, four-star linebacker Xavier Atkins, four-star safety Dashawn McBryde, four-star wide receiver Michael Turner, three-star interior offensive lineman Joseph Cryer, four-star EDGE CJ Jackson and four-star cornerback Ju’Juan Johnson.
