LSU small forward Angel Reese has been devastatingly dominant in women’s college basketball the past few seasons. On Sunday night in the Tigers’ Elite Eight matchup against the Miami Hurricanes, she does what she’s done so many times the past few years and dominate the box score. Reese already scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds with just under five minutes remaining in the third quarter. That gave her 32 double-doubles on the year, shattering the SEC record for the most double-doubles in a single season.

On Sunday against Miami, Reese didn’t have the best night shooting, but she still scored 13 points while bringing down 18 rebounds. She played a critical role in punching her teams’ ticket to the Final Four for the first time since 2008. It will mark LSU’s sixth Final Four appearance in school history. Reese fouled out with just over a minute left in Saturday game, but the Tigers had the Elite Eight victory wrapped up by then, as they cruised to a 54-40 win.

She’s racked up an extensive number of accolades this year, including first team AP All-American, first team All-SEC, and first team All-SEC Defensive team honors. The superstar small forward will look to add one more magical piece of hardware to her trophy case in the near future: a national championship. If she can bring home a national crown for the Tigers, it would be the first national championship in LSU women’s basketball history.

Earlier in the season, Reese made sure that Arkansas’ Samara Spencer would remember her name. Reese lost her shoe in the middle of a play when Spencer was driving down the lane. Reese was trying to put her shoe on as Spencer was driving down the lane for a layup, but the LSU star then changed her mind. She held the shoe in one hand, and then swatted the basketball away from Spencer with authority with the other hand, sending her crashing to the hardwood handed.

Reese came to LSU as one of the most dynamic players in women’s college basketball after her two seasons at Maryland. She was the top-rated player in the transfer portal in the 2022 cycle. Reese led the Terrapins to the Sweet 16 in 2022 as their top scorer (17.8 points per game) and top rebounder (10.6 rebounds per game). She became the first sophomore in Maryland women’s basketball history to average a double-double since 1975. She earned third team All-American honors from the Associated Press in 2022.

Coming out of St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, Maryland), Reese was one of the most highly regarded prospects in the country. She was rated as the No. 2 overall player in America for the 2020 recruiting cycle. She also played in the McDonald’s All-American game.
