On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine: LSU trending for Khai Prean

Belle Rose (La.) St. James four-star athlete Khai Prean announced a top four of Auburn, Florida State, LSU and Mississippi State on July 12. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Tigers are in a good spot for Prean’s commitment.

Following an expert prediction from On3’s Billy Embody, LSU has a 79.3% chance to land a pledge from Prean. Auburn has the next-best odds at 20.4%.

Prean, a 6-foot-0, 188 pound prospect, is the No. 252 overall prospect and No. 9 athlete in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 15 player in Louisiana.

Recruiting impact if Prean commits to LSU

The Tigers’ 2023 recruiting class currently contains 19 recruits and is made up of one five-star, 13 four-stars and five three-stars. LSU’s group ranks No. 6 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 3 in the SEC.

If Prean commits to LSU, he would be the first athlete in the Tigers’ 2023 class. He would also be the group’s 13th top-300 prospect.

The four-star recruit could also be the latest in-state prospect to pledge to head coach Brian Kelly and his staff if he chooses LSU. The Tigers have been on an impressive tear recently, landing multiple recruits from Louisiana.

They include Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic five-star wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr. and Baton Rouge (La.) Woodlawn four-star quarterback Rickie Collins. LSU has also earned in-state pledges from Baton Rouge (La.) Liberty Magnet High School four-star running back Kaleb Jackson, Marrero (La.) St. Augustine four-star offensive tackle Tyree Adams, Farmerville (La.) Union Parish four-star running back Trey Holly and Metairie (La.) Archbishop Rummel three-star safety Ashton Stamps. 

With Prean, LSU would have commitments from five of the top 15 players in Louisiana.

Prean has an On3 NIL Valuation of $13.5K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
