Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian Academy four-star defensive lineman Gabriel Reliford is currently committed to Texas A&M, but visited an in-state SEC rival this weekend.

Reliford took an official visit to LSU on December 2. Previously, he was in Baton Rouge to see the Tigers play in early September.

The elite defensive lineman committed to the Aggies in June before LSU offered him a month later. Texas A&M officially parted ways with former head coach Jimbo Fisher on November 12, before naming Mike Elko head coach near the end of the month.

“When I committed, I was not really thinking about LSU,” Reliford told On3 in July about his Tigers offer. “Now it’s on the table, so we will see what happens. It’s definitely a dream come true. It checks a big box for me.

“Being in-state, my whole family has been waiting on the LSU offer. They have been to big LSU games before. We might have expected it to come earlier, but we are on God’s time. We were all just really happy about it.”

Reliford is the nation’s No. 228 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the cycle’s No. 23 defensive lineman and No. 6 recruit from Louisiana.

On3 rates Reliford significantly higher than the rest of the recruiting industry He is the No. 59 overall prospect in the 2024 On300 — as well as the nation’s No. 7 defensive lineman and No. 4 recruit from Louisiana.
