LSU fell to Vanderbilt on Saturday 75-66, marking three consecutive losses for the Tigers. Following the latest loss, LSU head coach Will Wade had some strong comments about his team’s effort and attention to detail. Wade certainly wasn’t happy after losing to Vanderbilt.

“It’s hard to be confident when you’ve lost six out of seven,” Wade said of LSU’s confidence. “I mean look, we’ve got to inject a little confidence in our guys and we’ve got to get back to certainly playing better than we are now.”

When asked where LSU’s issues are coming from, Wade had a simple answer. He wouldn’t blame it all on injuries, especially when the Tigers need to put up a better overall effort.

“Health related, attention to detail, there’s different issues on different things,” Wade said when asked what LSU’s biggest issues are right now. “Some of it’s health, but we can’t blame it all on that. Everybody’s got some issues. We didn’t get an offensive rebound in the first half, that’s an effort issue. We don’t follow the details on the scouting report. Give up 11 threes to two of their best shooters, that’s a detail issue. So it’s a little bit of both.”

The loss drops LSU to 16-7 on the season and 4-6 against SEC opponents. LSU started the season 12-0 and later reached 15-1, but things have taken a turn for the worst since then. The Tigers’ last win was against Texas A&M on January 26, and that victory is sandwiched between two three-game losing streaks.

Wade took his time getting to the postgame press conference after LSU’s latest loss

LSU trailed by 21 points against Vanderbilt before eventually cutting the deficit down to five in the second half. Despite the comeback attempt, Vanderbilt held strong and won, 75-66. Even though the Tigers entered the weekend ranked inside the AP Top 25, LSU is likely to fall out on Monday.

Following LSU’s loss to Vanderbilt, Wade certainly took his time before arriving to the postgame press conference. Reporters had to wait more than an hour after the game before Wade showed up, prompting an apology from the head coach.

Over the next couple of weeks, Wade and LSU have a few winnable games on the schedule. The Tigers face Texas A&M and Mississippi State this upcoming week before facing Georgia and South Carolina the following week. Then, over the final two weeks of the season, LSU takes on Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, and Alabama.

LSU is a projected NCAA tournament team at this point, but the Tigers will need to turn things around quickly to make that happen.
