Blountstown (Fla.) four-star defensive lineman Artavius Jones has committed to the Miami Hurricanes. He announced the news on Twitter.

Jones chose the Hurricanes over UCF, Oregon, and Tennessee.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound is the No. 166 overall prospect and No. 21 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 24 player in Florida.

“Just the people all around,” Jones told Hayes Fawcett. “They made me feel like I was the number one priority, and the people are awesome. It feels like home, and since some of my family is from Miami, it was a plus! Also, they showed that they were genuine people and that they will take care of me and my family! And that they will help me get to where I wanna get, and they have multiple people that have played in the league and some were trench guys.”

In March Jones took his first trip to Coral Gables. He returned at the end of June for an official visit a few weeks after his official to UCF.

“We were just talking about how I’m a good player and they want me,” Jones told CaneSport following the official. “He’s (Mario Cristobal) a good person, he’s a lineman (former OL) so we get along really well. They’ve sent a lot of linemen to the NFL and coach Cristobal, he’s a good person, you can tell that he’s down to earth.”

Artavius Jones currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $73K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
