Miami head coach Mario Cristobal has made recruiting the Sunshine State a major priority. But the first-year ‘Canes coach is also taking ‘The U’ nationwide. Antonio Tripp Jr., a four-star offensive lineman from Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh School, is one of Miami’s biggest out-of-state targets on the offensive line. He announced Monday that he’ll visit the Hurricanes on March 5 once the recruiting dead period expires at the end of this month.

Tripp Jr. is the No. 315 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 24 interior offensive lineman and the No. 7 junior prospect in Maryland.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pounder has already totaled double-digit offers, including Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, West Virginia, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. Each of those programs made his top nine schools list, which he released at the end of January. The Nittany Lions are currently considered the favorite by the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), but Tripp Jr. noted that his recruitment is still very much open.
