Four-star running back Jordan Lyle of Fort Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas High flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Miami.

The 6-foot, 202 pounder had been committed to the Buckeyes since April.

“What stood out about Miami is that they treated my family extremely well and that plays a big factor in my decision. Also the weather in Miami is something I’m accustomed to. Ohio State is a great program and coach Alford is an outstanding person and coach but those two things are what weighed Miami over Ohio State.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.

“I’m closest with coach Harris, coach Hyppolite, and Coach Cristobal. They plan on using me as an every down back. My relationship with the coaching staff is great. Everyone treats me like family.”

The Sunshine State running back joins coach Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes’ top 10 2024 class. He is accompanied by five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott, four-star EDGE Marquise Lightfoot, and others.

Scouting Summary

On3’s Scouting and Rankings Team writes about him as a college recruit:

“Refined, efficient running back with a well-rounded, translatable skill set as a rusher. Measured at around 6-feet, 185 pounds prior to his junior season. Looks to have added some mass since that time. A natural runner. Shows high-level lateral agility, vision and contact balance. Reads his blocks well. Shows quick feet in working through the line. Understands angles and sets up second level defenders. Tempos his runs. Bounces off tackles and is hard for linebackers and defenders to bring down. Has an array of moves to force missed tackles. Shows solid speed in the open field but is not a blazer when it comes to the top end. Worked in a split backfield for South Florida powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas as a junior. Was very efficient in his carries, rushing for 1,015 yards and 12 touchdowns on just 91 carries (11.2 yards per carry). Will need to continue adding mass to his frame. Does not have quite the workload or raw production of most other blue chip backs entering his senior year as a good chunk of his yardage came in a handful of games.”

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $103K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
