Miami guard Jakai Robinson has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal according to On3’s Jamie Shaw.

Robinson enters the transfer portal following three seasons in Coral Gables, appearing in 24 games off of the bench for the Hurricanes in the last two seasons after redshirting his freshman year. Recording 21 total points, 20 rebounds, six assists, and three blocks in his limited playing time for Miami in the last two seasons.

The 6-foot-5, 208-pound guard originally from Ossining, New York was a top 100 recruit out of high school, choosing Miami over programs like Clemson, UConn, Georgetown, NC State, and Seton Hall as a prospect. But he will now re-open his recruitment, and will now look for a new program to call home and make a larger impact with two seasons of eligibility remaining in his collegiate career.

Robinson played high school basketball at Rock Creek Christian Academy in Upper Marlboro (MD), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 79 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Miami transfer portal activity

Miami had a disappointing season to say the least following their appearance in the Final Four last year. Finishing the season with 10 straight losses and a second-to-last place finish in the ACC standings with a 6-14 record in conference play and a 15-17 record overall in Jim Larrañaga‘s 13th season at the helm.

Robinson is one of three players who have entered the transfer portal so far this offseason following Miami’s disappointing season. Joining Mike Nwoko and AJ Casey as others have also been rumored to be eventually entering the transfer portal as well right behind them.

Like Robinson, Nwoko and Casey were not major impact players for the Hurricanes this season, appearing in a combined 53 games this season but with neither averaging more than three points per game.

Casey just completed his second season with Miami before entering the transfer portal, scoring 73 career points with 78 rebounds, 13 assists, and 12 blocks in his two seasons with the Hurricanes. With most of his production coming against non-conference competition.

Nwoko on the other hand was a highly touted four-star recruit who joined the Hurricanes just last year. Entering the transfer portal following his freshman season with Miami after scoring 77 points and grabbing 58 rebounds from his center position.
