Good Morning Canesport 10.20.23 Miami Hurricanes News of the Day

ESPN’s College GameDay has long since been one of the best known and most popular pregame shows for a college football Saturday. Among other things, the show picks several key games from around the country toward the end of the show with a guest picker. There, just about every picker thought that Miami was going to lose to Clemson.

Of course, that’s not how it worked out. Miami managed to beat Clemson in double overtime in what was considered an upset win over the Tigers. So, after the game, the Hurricanes took to Twitter/X to poke some fun at the College GameDay crew for missing on this one.

Check out how the Hurricanes trolled ESPN’s College GameDay, here:

Funnily enough, Miami even included the Freezing Cold Takes account in the post. The account that keeps track of takes from fans and sports writers that don’t work out has become popular for pointing out mistakes just like this one.

Another interesting thing about the troll was that College GameDay didn’t have a graphic sweep of the Hurricanes. Typically, when teams keep the receipts on predictions going against them, it’s when every person picking goes against them. However, guest picker CJ Stroud had Miami to win. So, it was really just the regular College GameDay crew that missed on this.

With the win over Clemson, Miami tied the all-time series record against the Tigers 7-7. The Hurricanes also ended a four-game losing streak against the Tigers.

Miami was even able to win this game without starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke. In his place, backup Emory Williams threw for 151 yards and a touchdown in the double-overtime win.

Next up for the Miami Hurricanes is a home game against the Virginia Cavaliers. It’ll be interesting to see if the College GameDay crew gives Miami some love ahead of that game or if they continue to doubt the Hurricanes.

Tyler Van Dyke still believes this Miami team is special

Miami lost two games in a row to Georgia Tech and North Carolina. The loss to Georgia Tech particularly hurt because of the way that Miami lost it. Despite all of that, starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke still believes that this team is special.

“I mean, this team is special. We know what we’re capable of. You know, we can’t fold. We’re going to make sure that we have the entire team, as leaders, just keep going,” Van Dyke said.

“It’s still a long season left. We’re going to do our best to win games. That’s the main thing is just win. And obviously do better during the game and not make those mistakes in critical situations.”
