New Giants head coach Brian Daboll has brought in one of his old offensive linemen from the Buffalo Bills, according to reports. Jon Feliciano, an offensive guard out of Miami that is entering his eighth season in the NFL. The only twist — he’s being brought on as a center.

“The #Giants are signing Jon Feliciano to play center, as @MattParrino reported. Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen happy to have Feliciano with them in East Rutherford,” Mike Garafolo reported.

Feliciano, who has been singed to a one-year contract with New York has come shortly after the Bills made him a cap casualty prior to free agency. The deals of Feliciano’s contract have yet to be reported as of this writing.

He spent that last three seasons as the Bills starting guard. The 30-year-old Miami product started 16 games for the Bills in 2019 but was limited to 15 starts combined over the next two years. Injuries has plagued Feliciano the past two seasons, with a torn pectoral muscle sidelining him for much of the 2020 season and a calf injury doing the same last season.

Josh Gattis shares first impressions of Miami quarterback room

Miami offensive coordinator Josh Gattis is pleased with what he sees in his quarterback room. The Hurricanes coach explained in a Wednesday press conference that it begins the competitive nature the position group displays.

“They’ve worked extremely hard,” Gattis said. “They’ve always had a positive attitude and great leadership. I saw those guys compete all winter for our fourth quarter program. Just competing in everything they can do. That’s first and foremost what you want out of the quarterback position. You want those guys to be leaders because everyone else on the team is going to follow good leadership. They’ve done a tremendous job.”

Tyler Van Dyke is set to be the Hurricanes starting quarterback next season after taking over in Week 4 this past season. He replaced starter D’Eriq King, who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. Van Dyke finished with 2,931 yards passing, 25 touchdowns and six interceptions, leading Miami to a 7-5 finish. However, the quarterback loses his top two receivers Charleston Rambo and Mike Harley to the NFL draft.

Miami also signed 2022 four-star quarterback Jacurri Brown and returns Jake Garcia, who was a four-star prospect in the 2021 class. Gattis believes under the tutelage of quarterbacks coach Frank Ponce, the Hurricanes can develop depth at the position behind Van Dyke.
