A seismic shift is happening in college football. According to FOX’s Bruce Feldman, Michigan offensive coordinator Josh Gattis is on his way to Miami.

“BREAKING: Michigan OC Josh Gattis is accepting the Miami’s offensive coordinator job, per source,” tweeted Feldman. “The 38-year-old Gattis who helped the Wolverines to the Big Ten title in 2021, won the Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach. Big addition for the Canes.”

Coming off a tremendous season, Gattis helped Jim Harbaugh lead the Wolverines to the College Football Playoff. However, the uncertainly of Harbaugh’s future may have led Gattis to make a move with his future at the forefront of his thinking.

Gattis leaving Michigan for Miami is a gigantic coup for new Hurricanes leader Mario Cristobal. As he looks to rebuild Miami into a contender, hiring one of the top assistants in the nation is a huge step in the right direction.

Paul Finebaum on Jim Harbaugh: ‘What kind of credibility does he have?’

The decision from Josh Gattis underscores an underlying issue with Jim Harbaugh returning to Michigan — his credibility is shot. Earlier this week on Get Up, Paul Finebaum theorized that his failed return to the NFL will hurt Michigan.

“It looks disastrous,” stated Finebaum, when asked how the Harbaugh situation looks. “I mean, can you imagine anyone of his ilk — we’re talking about one of the top programs in the country, one of the top schools — doing what he did? Think about Nick Saban or Jimbo Fisher or Kirby Smart or Ryan Day. Getting on a plane on National Signing Day, interviewing for a job and then not getting it? And you have to wonder if that interview didn’t cost him the job.

“Jim Harbaugh is 58 years old. He’s already been through the NFL dishwasher. They clearly decided we want someone young. We want a young, up and coming coach. We don’t want some coach who’s probably has already washed out of the system. Now, he has to go back and say I’m not going to do that anymore. What kind of credibility does he have, and why should anyone at Michigan believe him?”

Evidently, Josh Gattis is choosing to go to a program where his leader won’t look to jump ship every season. After a tremendous stint at Michigan, Gattis will look to improve upon his impressive reputation at the University of Miami.
