Austin (Texas) Lake Travis three-star quarterback Bo Edmundson has decommitted from Michigan State. He was previously committed to the Spartans since Feb. 7.

Edmundson is the No. 715 overall prospect and No. 37 quarterback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 127 player in Texas.

“After much thought and many conversations with my family and my coaches at Lake Travis, I have decided to decommit from Michigan State University and reopen my recruiting,” Edmundson wrote in a statement published to social media. “I want to thank Coach Tucker and Coach Johnson for all the time they spent with me and my family this past year. This is a difficult decision, and I appreciate all the support I have received through this journey.”

How Edmundson’s decommitment impacts Michigan State’s 2023 class

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect was previously the only quarterback commit in Michigan State’s 2023 recruiting class. He is the Spartans’ second decommitment in the last week alongside New Caney (Texas) four-star running back Kedrick Reescano.

Following Edmundson backing off his pledge, Michigan State’s 2023 class consists of 11 prospects and is composed of eight four-stars and three three-stars. Norman (Okla.) Community Christian School four-star EDGE Bai Jobe, the No. 35 overall prospect in the 2023 On300, is the highest-rated recruit in the class. The Spartans’ 2023 class currently ranks No. 22 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 3 in the Big Ten.

Meanwhile, Edmundson holds 13 offers. Schools who have extended them include Oklahoma State, Penn State and Utah.

The Lone Star State native has visited two other programs in addition to Michigan State, who got an official visit on June 3. The Cowboys got two unofficial visits from Edmundson, most recently on Sept. 25, 2021. Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions hosted the three-star for an unofficial on June 6, 2021.
