4-star RB Anthony Carrie decommits from Michigan State

Tampa Carrollwood Day four-star running back Anthony Carrie has decommitted from Michigan State.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder had been committed to the Spartans since June 24 and was one of the highest-ranked pledges in Michigan State’s 2024 recruiting class. Carrie’s decommitment follows news of Michigan State’s plans to fire head coach Mel Tucker for cause following a Title IX investigation into his conduct.

Carrie is the No. 357 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 29 running back and No. 45 player in Florida.

Michigan State originally beat out North Carolina for the tailback. Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and South Carolina also made Carrie’s final cut before his decision. The likes of Alabama, Georgia and USC had also extended offers throughout his recruitment.

Before Tucker’s firing, Michigan State’s 2024 class ranked No. 43 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking. Carrie was one of 13 total commits and one of four top-400 pledges.
