There is some big news surrounding former Indiana Hoosiers defensive star cornerback Kobee Minor. According to Matt Zenitz, Minor is expected to commit to playing for Indiana’s Big Ten rival, Michigan State.

“The current expectation is that ex-Indiana standout cornerback Kobee Minor ends up at Michigan State, sources tell @chris_hummer and me for @247Sports. Was honorable mention All-Big Ten at Indiana last year. Previously visited Mississippi State,” said Zenitz via X.

The news of the expected commitment comes nearly 24 hours after the former Hoosier took to social media to pin-drop his location, showing that he was in East Lansing, MI, home of the Michigan State Spartans, for a visit.

Minor spent one season with the Hoosiers. During that season, he played in 11 games and helped Indiana to go 3-9 on the season. He, personally, had 29 total tackles and four passes defended on the season, both of which were career highs for Minor. That performance was also good enough to be named an All-Big Ten honorable mention.

Prior to his season at Indiana, Kobee Minor spent three seasons at Texas Tech. He redshirted for the 2020 season before playing in 22 games, often as a specialist, in 2021 and 2022 for the Red Raiders.

Michigan State is undergoing a complete reset of the program this season under Jonathan Smith. That could lead to a long upcoming fall but one that could set the foundation for Spartan success in the ones to follow.

On3’s Andy Staples and Cody Bellaire discussed all the highs and lows for every team in the Big Ten on Monday, including Michigan State’s to finish the episode. That one is difficult, though, considering how much of a renovation that their building has undergone from the past tenure of Mel Tucker to this one of the new head coach in Smith.

“This is the roster that has probably undergone the most transformation of any in the Big Ten. I don’t know that – transformation is probably the wrong word. Like, it had to be, it was going to be gutted no matter what because of how the previous coach’s tenure ended,” said Staples. “Mel Tucker gets fired in September for off-field reasons and then, all of a sudden, exodus begins. Jonathan Smith gets hired from Oregon State – he decides who he wants to keep, who he wants to get rid of. He also decides who he wants to bring from Corvallis.”
