Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek linebacker Jamal Anderson is beginning to narrow down his recruitment, and he already has one official visit locked in. Anderson announced Thursday on Twitter that he will use one of his five visits to see Michigan State June 10-12.

Anderson is the No. 202 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 15 linebacker and the No. 20 junior prospect in Georgia.

The Industry Comparison shows On3 is much higher on him than the rest of the recruiting industry, though. In the most recent On300 ranking, Anderson was tabbed as the country’s No. 101 overall prospect, No. 5 linebacker and No. 11 prospect in the Peach State.

“The national linebacker class is a bit tough to parse at the top,” On3 Director of Recruiting Charles Power wrote recently. “It’s murky at best and debatably weak that this point. Some linebacker prospects who developed a bit later could be primed to make a move. One of those is Jamal Anderson. The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder has seen his stock rise over the last few months, with good reason. Anderson is a fluid, coordinated athlete. He’s a natural mover in space and plays with range and a large sphere of influence. He’s a versatile linebacker who can play in space, cover and rush the passer. Anderson totaled 78 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four sacks and two interceptions as junior.”

Anderson is high on three schools

There is no timeline for Anderson to take that next step, but he is eyeing a late summer commitment right around the time he begins his senior year. August is when he wants to commit and there is a trio of schools he is high on heading into March.

“Michigan State, Utah, and USC are three I like a lot,” Anderson told On3’s Chad Simmons last month. ” … “I have a great connection with Mel Tucker. He is a great coach and a great guy. When I was on my visit to Michigan State, we talked for a long time. He had a lot of great things to say and he is a coach I really like.”

The Spartans stand as the current leader in Anderson’s recruitment, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). It gives Tucker and Co. a 36.1 percent chance of securing his commitment, with Clemson (27.8%) trailing close behind.
