MICHIGAN and Jim Harbaugh are CHAMPIONS | National Championship vs Washington Instant Reaction

The Michigan Wolverines and head coach Jim Harbaugh are officially champions of the 2023 college football season. Wolverines star running back Blake Corum was given offensive MVP honors following his 21 carries, 134 yards, and two touchdown performance on the night. After the game, the Michigan star had a few things to get off his chest.

Directly after the game, as the confetti began to fall, ESPN’s Holly Rowe caught up to Corum, where he put Michigan’s plan for the season into perspective while sharing his emotions on just winning the National Championship.

“We came back for it. We came back to get the Natty, came back to win for Michigan, and we did it. I’m just so blessed and speechless. I’m just trying to take everything in,” said Corum.

Michigan rushed for a national championship record 303 yards in their 21-point, 34-13 dominating victory over Washington. As mentioned above, Corum was responsible for 134 yards on the ground. However, he wasn’t the only Michigan running back to run for over 100 yards in the game. Donovan Edwards also shined out of the Michigan backfield with six carries for 104 yards, averaging 17.3 yards per carry and two rushing touchdowns of his own.

Ahead of being awarded the national championship trophy, Corum spoke once more and, this time, put an exclamation point on the night and the season for the Wolverines program.

“When we set the comeback, it was a lot of us. We said we had unfinished business, so I’ll leave you all with this. The business is finished,” said Corum.

After tearing his ACL in the regular season, Corum was not on the field with Michigan in the 2022 semifinal matchup against TCU. However, the Wolverines’ star running back was front and center for this national championship run.

Corum did not put up the numbers he did in 2022, which had him in the running for the Heisman Trophy for much of the season, but he still put up impressive numbers. The senior running back entered tonight’s contest with 237 rushing attempts for 1111 yards and 25 rushing touchdowns.

But on Monday, it’s not the stats that matter; it is Michigan’s ability to achieve the goal they set out to accomplish during the 2023 off-season. And Corum, and what will likely be his final game in a Wolverine uniform, said it best with his closing statement: ‘The business is finished.’
