Class of 2024 running back Micah Ka’apana of Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman announced his commitment to Michigan Saturday afternoon.

The 5-foot-11, 195 pounder chose the Wolverines over Oklahoma State, Nebraska, and Hawaii.

Ka’apana on why he chose Michigan

“The connection that coach Hart has with coach Moore and being able to help build this program as one of the top rushing programs behind the best O-Line in the country.”

His relationship with the coaching staff played a role in his decision, and the Nevada running back discusses how Michigan plans to use him.

“Everyone shows me nothing but love but I’m closest with coach Hart, because he is the RB coach,” Ka’apana said. “Their plan for me at Michigan is to add some speed to the backfield.”

Michigan has won back to back Joe Moore Awards and has one of the top run games in college football

“As an RB joining a team knowing that they have a very successful run game and a great OL is the best feeling in the world because that mixed with the versatility coming out the backfield will just mean more success.”

The Silver State running back joins coach Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines’ Top 5 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis, four-star running back Jordan Marshall, and others.

Ka’apana ranks as the No. 718 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 57 running back and the No. 4 player in the state of Nevada.

He currently does not have an On3 NIL Valuation publicly listed. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
