Michigan let one slip away on Saturday night with how they shot in the second half of their 62-61 loss to Indiana. Considering how it worked out, Hunter Dickinson couldn’t help but feel frustrated about their offense for how it cost them.

Dickinson spoke about the Wolverine’s poor execution with the media after the defeat. He said how ‘winnable’ the game against the Hoosiers only made their inability to get decent looks appear that much worse.

“It definitely is frustrating,” Dickinson said. “We weren’t really getting that many good looks at the basket the last couple of minutes. Whatever we were doing? It wasn’t working. Whether it’s just executing or running the plays right, it wasn’t a good, all-around effort by us out there. We need to execute better down the stretch if we’re gonna win a tough game like that against a really good team.”

“Obviously it was a tight game. In that term, it was tight. (But) it felt very winnable until the last shot. Even on the last shot, I felt like we had a chance to go win that. But it felt very winnable and we were up for most of the game,” said Dickinson. “For us, having it slip away like that really hurts. It felt like a really winnable game and felt like our game to win out there.”

Michigan took a four-point lead into halftime after leading by as much as 11 over the first two minutes. A big part of that was their 51.7% mark from the field. However, that dropped all the way down to 32% in the second half with only eight makes, including just one from three. That allowed the Hoosiers to get all the way back in the last 10 minutes and, eventually, win out.

Considering Michigan’s position, this is one that meant a lot to them and to let it go was brutal. Now all Dickinson and the Wolverines can hope for is that they find some improved offensive consistency over their last six so they don’t cost themselves another one like they did here.
