Michigan earned some serious bragging rights this weekend during what became their second straight win in The Game. After beating Ohio State for the first time in Jim Harbaugh’s tenure a year ago, they came to Columbus this season and did it again by knocking off the Buckeyes 45-23. Considering all things, Harbaugh believes it will eventually go down as one of the biggest victories in the storied history of the Wolverine football program.

Harbaugh shared his thoughts on that opinion during his press conference on Monday. He said, of all the great wins that he’s been a part of in Ann Arbor, that this one felt afterward like one that would be remembered forever.

“Humbly, we’d say that. Definitely right up there as one of the greatest wins. And we’ve had a lot of good ones,” said Harbaugh.

It wasn’t the win that was necessarily impressive. The Wolverines had shown all during the season that they were one of the nation’s best teams. However, it was the circumstances and the manner in which they won that shocked the country.

Ohio State has been plotting its revenge for a year. They were in the same spot a season ago except, this time, it was played in The Shoe. Still, the Wolverines shattered expectations by hanging around for the first half, taking a lead in the third quarter, and, eventually, blowing out the Buckeyes on their home field.

The win earned Michigan a shot at another Big Ten title and refortified their chance of making the final CFP field. In the end, Harbaugh went on to say that he, along with the state of Michigan, is grateful for and appreciative of the Wolverine players and staff for doing all they did in that game to give themselves this opportunity they have today.

“We’re right where we wanna be. Playing for a championship. That’s huge. That’s big,” Harbaugh said. “It sunk in coming back from the game. Just a great thrill. Great thrill of winning, great feeling of victory. Just expressing that to our players and our coaches. How appreciative we are, I am, everybody that loves Michigan…Just for the amount of effort, focus, and determination that our players and coaches put into this game. Just an incredible gratitude and appreciation for the job that they did.”
