Jim Harbaugh explains quarterback competition, rambles into biblical roots of decision
Is Jim Harbaugh a prophet or just a college football coach? His latest press conference might have everybody guessing. Because the Michigan head coach explained that his process for selected a quarterback really comes down to the bible. The prophet Solomon was even mentioned.

Jim Harbaugh turns to Bible for QB competition decision
“It’s a process,” Harbaugh said. “For me to stand up here, no person — that’s biblical — knows what the future holds. It’s a process based on performance. But we’re not going to withhold any good thing. Both have been tremendous quarterbacks. We think that both are capable of leading our team to a championship.
“That’s good. We’re going to keep cultivating that. People have asked, ‘how have you come to that decision? Was it based on some kind of NFL model?’ No. It’s really biblical. Solomon, who was known to be a pretty wise person.”
Solomon was known to be perhaps the wisest man in the history of the world according to the Bible. Though even he, wise as he was, succumbed to major sin. So is Harbaugh essentially saying that even the wisest man in the history of the planet couldn’t choose between Cade McNamara and JJ McCarthy? Because the future is forever unpredictable? And even the wisest among us make the wrong decisions sometimes? Guess so.
Also his statements seem to leave the door open to using last season’s method of playing both guys. He did say he believes they both could lead Michigan to a national championship. Heck, they both made plenty of plays to put the Wolverines in position to get to the College Football Playoff a year ago. So using both or going back and forth may not be the worst outcome.
