Jim Harbaugh Press Conference: Minnesota Week | Roman Wilson, 'Dominant O-Line' | Michigan Football

Michigan has had several additions, week by week, to get better over the course of this season. Over the last two weekends, that has included junior DB Rod Moore in his return from a minor knee procedure in the spring.

Jim Harbaugh has seen Moore’s debut as a big checkmark for him. When asked about him during his press conference on Monday, his play on Saturday at Nebraska was his latest positive step.

“(He’s) progressing really well,” said Harbaugh.

Moore started against Rutgers in his official return to the field. Then, in Lincoln, he put up his first numbers of the year with two tackles and a pass deflection.

Over the previous two seasons, Moore has 104 tackles to his name to go along with four deflections, half a sack, and four interceptions.

Still, when it comes to health, Harbaugh knows that Michigan’s position isn’t any different than anyone else’s. Whether it’s Moore or somebody else, he answered by saying that, even this early in the season, several players are handling injuries the best that they can.

“There’s so many times when you have guys who are working through something. That’s football,” said Harbaugh. “It’s rare, it’s lucky when you come out of a game as healthy as we did coming out of this game. You can rest assured that there’s somebody, multiple guys that are working through something.”

Nagy explains what makes Roman Wilson a ‘super explosive’ player

Michigan WR Roman Wilson is off to a tremendous start to the 2023 season and had one of the top Wolverines highlights of the season so far with an acrobatic touchdown catch over Nebraska.

Jim Nagy is a Michigan alum so he told On3’s Andy Staples on his podcast on Monday that he has known about Wilson for a few years now. But what Wilson has done this season has still been very impressive.

“We would love to give Roman like our Stock Up Player of the Week. But Roman was one of our top graded receivers off junior tape,” Nagy said. “We really liked this player. Again, because I went to school there I’m kind of more in tune sometimes with the younger guys coming up through the pipeline. I’ve known about Roman for a while. We know he can really, really run. He’s super explosive. They play him in the slot. He’s different. I think a lot of safeties in college, nickels? They’re used to playing quicker than fast guys inside whereas Roman just comes off and he’s on you fast. This dude is super fast and so he’s a different speed matchup on the inside.”

Nagy explained that Wilson has taken over as JJ McCarthy‘s undisputed go-to receiver with Ronnie Bell now in the NFL.

“With Ronnie being gone, it’s kind of Roman’s deal this year,” Nagy said. “He’s taken over as JJ’s go-to guy. When JJ does get flushed and runs around, you can see it: Roman’s the guy he’s looking for. For a smaller guy who is only 5-10.5? His ability to go up and make plays like he made on the ball against Nebraska the other day? That’s a comfort for a quarterback when they know they can just kind of put it up to a guy.”
