Sharpsburg (Ga.) Trinity Christian School four-star athlete and Florida commit Aaron Gates is in the Mitten State this weekend to watch Michigan’s spring game.

Gates is the only commit in the 2023 Gators recruiting class.

This is his third straight weekend visiting a school that isn’t Florida. Gates was at Auburn last weekend and Florida State the weekend before that.

He is the No. 272 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $20k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

The Wolverines have the seventh-ranked class in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking with seven commits. Two of those commits come from the Southeast like Gates: Tallahassee (La.) Lincoln four-star linebacker Raylen Wilson and Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb running back Benjamin Hall.

Gates committed to the Gators under Dan Mullen but didn’t decommit when he was fired and Billy Napier took over the program. He told On3’s Jeremy Johnson that he wanted to wait until he met with the coaching staff before deciding whether to back away from his commitment. He liked that staff when he visited earlier this year, and have elected to remain committed.

“When everything first started playing out, I really just didn’t want to rush into any decisions and just stayed committed to Florida,” Aaron Gates said. “I wanted to get down there and feel out the new staff. I feel like I committed to the university, not the coaching staff.”
