Michigan running backs coach Mike Hart is in stable condition after suffering a seizure and collapsing on the field on Saturday, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh, via Michigan reporter Alejandro Zuniga. Hart will stay in Bloomington overnight for observation, per Harbaugh.

Hart collapsed on the field early during Michigan’s game against Indiana. After halftime was over, FOX Sports sideline reporter Jenny Taft provided an update on Hart from Harbaugh. At that time, Harbaugh shared that Hart had spoken to the team and provided encouragement for them in the game.

“Coach Harbaugh just told me as he was walking out that the team did hear from Mike Hart in the locker room,” Taft said before the half. “He wanted to tell them that he’s doing okay. He’s with them in spirit. He didn’t want them to be thinking about him right now and Coach Harbaugh didn’t shy away from the fact that it has been emotional for the team. He said, ‘Right now the message is win this for Coach Hart.’”

Michigan keeps winning

Despite losing Hart, Michigan went on to win the game, 31-10, and improving to 6-0 on the season. The Wolverines were tied with the Hoosiers at 10-10 at halftime but then locked down defensively, not allowing a score in the entire second half. Two fourth quarter scores helped Michigan win the game by 21 points.

The Wolverines are hoping to defend their Big Ten title from last year and get back to the College Football Playoff once again. They will be tested next week, as they return home to host No. 10 Penn State next Saturday.
