Michigan football took a gamble with the design of its 2023 national championship rings. A photo of the rings was posted via X on Saturday, showing the word “bet” inscribed on the back of the rings.

That isn’t the only inscription on the rings, as it also says “those who stay will be” on the inside of the ring as well as commemorates the 15-0 record the Wolverines finished with. It also appears to have the quote from coach Jim Harbaugh: “Who has it better than us? Nobody.” You can view a photo of the ring below.

Michigan rolled through the competition this past season on its way to winning the national title for the first time since 1997. The Wolverines handed Washington a 34-13 loss in the championship game behind 303 yards rushing and four touchdowns on the ground.

In addition to the national championship, Michigan also claimed the Big Ten championship for the third straight season. They defeated rival Ohio State in the final game of the regular season to get there, also marking their third straight victory against the Buckeyes.

The Wolverines will have a new coach in 2024 after Harbaugh left to become the coach of the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers. They’ll also be without running back Blake Corum and quarterback JJ McCarthy, who are both also on to the pros.

Michigan held its annual spring game on Saturday, where players received the rings for the first time. McCarthy even took some time to speak with reporters about his legacy in Ann Arbor.

Former Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy spoke with FOX’s Joel Klatt during the Wolverines’ Spring Game on Saturday afternoon.

First, Klatt asked him about his legacy in Ann Arbor, as the quarterback is preparing for the 2024 NFL Draft at them moment.

“It means everything, because that’s what you set out for, when you first got on campus, no matter where you’re at. But you know, that 27 wins, that’s not me. That’s everybody around. All the coaches, all the support staff,” McCarthy said. “I came in at a great time and had a hell of a time doing it.”

Alas, McCarthy is certainly as humble as they come. Continuing, he elaborated on what he told his team when they had to go down and win the Rose Bowl to get to the College Football Playoff finale, and how he was able to lead the team to victory.

“This is it boys. Everything that we worked for, to get to this point, where we could show you know, as an offense throughout the year, we had so many games where the defense was killing it. Blake and Donovan were killing it. You know, we didn’t have that drive that was like, we’re gonna be a great offense this year. So that was just the message, was this is it,” McCarthy added. “Our backs against the wall, let’s see what we can do.”
