March was a strong month for the Michigan Wolverines on the recruiting trail. Four-star running back Jordan Marshall committed to Michigan on March 21 and a day later picked up a commitment from three-star offensive tackle Ben Roebuck.

The Wolverines’ recruiting success got even better with the commitment of four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis Friday afternoon. Davis picked the Wolverines over ClemsonNorth CarolinaOhio State and Tennessee.

Davis’ commitment propelled the Wolverines from No. 9 nationally to No. 5. Michigan’s group is also No. 2 in the Big Ten.

“My whole family loves Michigan,” Davis told On3’s Chad Simmons after he narrowed his list of schools down. “They’ve all been up there. It’s a place where I’ve seen a game, a summertime day and then, the coldest of the cold with my recent visit there. I feel like I pretty much know the ins and outs of Michigan. I have a great relationship with J.J. McCarthy. He’s someone that I consider a brother for life.

“Coach (Jim) Harbaugh is a guy that’s never lied to me. He’s always kept it 100% real with me and I’m big on loyalty and trust. He’s a guy I can trust. How they’ve treated me and my family has been second to none. They’ve always made me feel like a top priority.”

Michigan’s continued success on the 2024 recruiting trail

Jim Harbaugh and co. have nine commitments in their 2024 recruiting class, six of which are ranked as four-star prospects. They are Davis, Marshall, Bellevue (Wash.) tight end Hogan Hansen, Harper Woods (Mich.) Jacob Oden, Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth linebacker Mason Curtis and Avon (Ohio) interior offensive lineman Luke Hamilton.

Davis is the No. 26 overall prospect and No. 4 quarterback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in North Carolina.

For the Wolverines, Davis is their first four-star quarterback commitment since McCarthy in the 2021 recruiting cycle. It also puts Michigan just under halfway towards the total number of four-star recruits they signed in the 2023 cycle.

“Michigan went back-to-back recruiting cycles without landing a true high-level quarterback,” EJ Holland of The Wolverine said. “The Wolverines needed to find a successor for JJ McCarthy and did just that by landing a commitment from Davis. The No. 26 overall recruit nationally, Davis is a great fit for Michigan’s offensive scheme and fills a huge position of need this recruiting cycle. While Davis is shorter than other top quarterbacks and not a true threat with his legs, he is still one of the better quarterback recruits in America. Michigan made him its lone quarterback target for a reason. Now, Davis will be a vocal leader for a class that already entered the day in the Top 10.”
