Michigan will be without head coach Jim Harbaugh this Saturday — and next — as the coach and school gave up their fight against the Big Ten and a three game suspension, the first of which Harbaugh already served. But the Wolverines aren’t backing down from supporting the head coach.

On Friday evening, after more news broke regarding the ongoing impermissible scouting investigation by the NCAA — including the firing of linebackers coach Chris Partridge — Michigan shared a message from running back Donovan Edwards on social media.

“[Harbaugh] has prepared us to go through the battles without him. His mentality is ‘the next man up,’ even with himself. It’s really a testament to how this team is in the way that he carries himself,” Edwards said.

Edwards continued, praising how the staff was prepared for the moment. He particularly praised offensive and defensive coordinators Sherrone Moore and Jesse Minter, respectively, and how Harbaugh played a role in getting them ready to meet this challenge.

“He prepared coach Moore, coach Minter, and the coaching staff to coach in replacement for him. We’re a true family here and it all starts with coach Harbaugh,” Edwards said.

Michigan released a state on Partridge’s firing

Michigan didn’t end up going to court today with the Big Ten. Even so, that doesn’t mean any less news has flowed regarding the sign-stealing scandal in Ann Arbor. Now, the school has shared another release when it comes to their latest decisions in the matter.

The Wolverines another let out another statement on Friday in the aftermath of the program relieving Chris Partridge as a member of the football program. It also shared clarification on the investigation from the NCAA as well as the Big Ten’s monitoring of that process.

“From the outset, our focus has been on seeking due process and allowing the NCAA to conduct a fair and deliberate investigation,” the statement read. “Although the Big ten has closed its investigation, we are continuing to cooperate with the NCAA as it moves forward with its ongoing investigation.”

“Consistent with our commitment to integrity, we will continue to take the appropriate actions, including disciplinary measures, based on information we obtain. Earlier today, Michigan Athletics relieved Chris Partridge of his duties as a member of the Michigan Football staff. Due to employee privacy laws, we are unable to comment further.”

Partridge allegedly covered up and destroyed evidence in relation to the sign-stealing case involving Connor Stalions.
