The Michigan Wolverines have knocked off rival Ohio State for the first time since 2011, kicking off a celebration in The Big House and across the state. As the final whistle blew, fans stormed the field at Michigan Stadium to start the party with coaches and players in the middle of a snowy fog.

A career day from running back Hassan Haskins helped set the tone on Saturday. His 28 carries brought 169 yards and five touchdowns. A big day from defensive end Aidan Hutchinson on the opposite side of the ball helped ensure victory and allow Michigan fans to storm the field.

Michigan is now 11-1 heading into a Big Ten Championship game against the Wisconsin Badgers. Entering the day No. 5 in the College Football Playoff, the Wolverines will expect a big boost as they fly into the top-four and assert themselves as national championship contenders.

Jim Harbaugh speaks after win

He finally did it. Jim Harbaugh beat Ohio State as Michigan head coach.

The Wolverines — the No. 5 team in the nation — dominated from the beginning en route to a 42-27 win over the No. 2-ranked Buckeyes at The Big House Saturday afternoon.

You could hear the sense of relief in the coach’s voice as he chatted briefly with FOX Sports sideline reporter Jenny Taft after the game.

“I just feel so great for the players, who prepared so well for this game and then went out and executed pretty much thoroughly,” Harbaugh told Taft just seconds after the game ended.

Taft then asked him about running back Hassan Haskins after his huge day. However, Harbaugh pointed to another Michigan star alongside Haskins: defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who set the Michigan single-season sacks record on Saturday by sacking CJ Stroud three times.

“Hassan Haskins, Aidan Hutchinson, two guys that have carried this team on their back all season long and a group of guys that just play their hearts out,” Harbaugh said.

The game is sure to shake up the College Football Playoff rankings. One thing is for sure, though. Harbaugh finally has a win over Michigan’s archrival as a head coach and can breathe easy after the regular season for the first time in several years.

He had three words to end the interview, the three words Michigan fans have been waiting to hear for a decade now.

“We did it,” he said before joining his team — and the fans who rushed the field — to celebrate.
