Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International three-star offensive tackle Mauricio Hinds has decommitted from Minnesota, he announced on Saturday.

He was pledged to the Golden Gophers since June 17. He also held offers from the likes of UCF, Duke, Maryland, Wake Forest and Arizona.

Hinds is the No. 101 offensive tackle and No. 189 player in Florida, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He checks in as the No. 1447 overall prospect.

“I’d like to start by saying that I am grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way.
I’d like to thank my family, coaches and friends for their continued support throughout my journey.
Thank you to Coach Fleck, Coach Callahan and the Minnesota staff who believed in my talents and abilities. With that being said, after long conversations and thought, it is in my best interest to announce my decommitment from the University of Minnesota. I am 100% open to all schools and look forward to signing in December and enrolling early. Please respect my decision,” Hinds wrote in his announcement.

Hinds does not currently have an On3 NIL Valuation. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Minnesota trying to hold on to Top-40 recruiting class

With Hinds no longer committed, Minnesota now has 21 pledges in its 2024 recruiting class — which ranks No. 36 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

The class is headlined by Esko (Minn.) Lincoln Secondary four-star safety Koi Perich, the No. 103 recruit, No. 6 safety and top-ranked player in the North Star State. He’s been committed to the in-state Gophers since April, but is taking December official visits to both Ohio State and Florida State.

Behind Perich is Mukwonago (Wisc.) four-star IOL Nathan Roy, the No. 136 prospect, No. 7 IOL and the top-ranked player in Wisconsin. Both he and Perich have consistently risen in the On300 and the On3 Industry Rankings.

Other top commits for the Gophers include: Savage (Minn.) Prior Lake three-star defensive lineman Jide Abasiri, Kindred (N.D.) three-star DL Riley Sunram, Olathe (Kan.) East three-star IOL Brett Carroll and Aurora (Ill.) Waubonsie Valley three-star tight end Julian Johnson.
