Houston (Texas) Shadow Creek three-star defensive lineman Theorin Randle announced his commitment to Minnesota on Sunday. He backed off his pledge to Washington State on Oct. 27.

Randle is the No. 1,476 overall prospect and No. 157 defensive lineman in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 244 player in Texas.

On3 rates Randle higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Even though he is not ranked in the 2023 On300, he is the No. 130 defensive lineman and No. 206 player in Texas.

How Randle impacts Minnesota’s 2023 recruiting class

A 6-foot-3, 265-pound prospect, Randle is the 17th member of the Golden Gophers’ 2023 recruiting class. The group currently ranks No. 49 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 9 in the Big Ten.

Minnesota’s commits consist of one four-star and 16 three-stars. The Golden Gophers’ top pledge is Osseo (Minn.) Osseo Senior four-star interior offensive lineman Jerome Williams, the No. 231 overall prospect in the 2023 On300.

Right now, P.J. Fleck and his staff have commitments from two defensive linemen. They are Randle and Prior Lake (Minn.) three-star Martin Owusu.

Additionally, eight of Minnesota’s pledges are ranked in the top-1,000 of the On3 Consensus. Two of them are rated among the top-500 players, including Williams and Walled Lake (Mich.) three-star running back Darius Taylor.

Randle has an On3 NIL Valuation of $9.2K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
