In 2022-2023, Harris averaged 33.3% from deep at Charleston Southern and he bumped that average up a bit this year. In terms of competitiveness, the SEC and ACC are two of the top conferences in college basketball, so Harris will be taking essentially A lateral step in terms of the challenges he will face next season. However, with the Bulldogs, he will be joining a program that is looking to take the next step in their development under head coach Chris Jans. Jans has been hard on the recruiting trail, acquiring some top-tier talent out of the transfer portal while following a handful of his starters exiting the program, primarily individuals declaring for the 2024 NBA draft or exhausting their college eligibility like Tolu Smith and DJ Jefferies.

The rest of the Mississippi State roster is still coming together, but acquiring Harris is definitely a step in the right direction. If Jans And company are looking to rival the likes of Alabama, Kentucky, and Arkansas under the leadership of John Calipari, acquiring elite scorers and playmakers such as Harris will go a long way toward making them an elite college basketball program in the SEC next season.
