Four-star wide receiver Braylon Burnside of Starkville (MS) High announced his commitment to Mississippi State Tuesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 205 pounder chose the Bulldogs over Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Texas A&M.

Burnside on why he chose Mississippi State

“It’s always been a dream playing in the hometown since a little one, I’m from Mississippi, Starkville at that , why not go outside and play in your backyard.”

Relationship with coaching staff + their plan for him

“Bump is the main guy, but the coaching staff, every time I came to State to visit, it always felt like home. They plan on using me all over. I can do it all.”

What it means to stay home

“It means a lot, I don’t have to take care of them (my family) from another place, I can take care of them from the backyard.”

Burnside ranks as the No. 215 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 36 wide receiver and the No. 8 player in the state of Mississippi.

On3 ranks him higher than the industry, as he ranks as the No. 196 player nationally, the No. 33 wide receiver, and the No. 3 player in Mississippi.

The Mississippi wide receiver joins coach Zach Arnett and the Bulldogs’ top 35 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star quarterback Josh Flowers, four-star defensive lineman Terrance Hibbler, and others.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $72K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
