Four-star wide receiver JJ Harrell of Sardis (MS) North Panola High announced his commitment to Mississippi State Tuesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-2, 185 pounder chose the Bulldogs over LSU, Alabama, and Ole Miss. He was previously committed to Tennessee.

Harrell on why he chose Mississippi State

“It was a no brainer, even after I committed to another school they never gave up. I prayed on it and God led me to making this decision. Coach Bump and Coach Arnett really believe in me, committing was the only way to go about it.”

Relationship with coaching staff + their plan for Harrell

“It’s crazy because I have a relationship with everyone on the staff but I’m very close with Coach Bump, he’s a Mississippi guy and he understands where I come from. They are using me as a playmaker, they are going to use me everywhere in the offense because they know I can make plays all I need is the football.”

What it means to stay home

“It means the world to me and my family. My whole family is Mississippi State fans so I know it’s very emotional to them knowing I’m about to play for State.”

Harrell ranks as the No. 128 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 22 wide receiver and the No. 4 player in the state of Mississippi.

The Mississippi wide receiver joins coach Zach Arnett and the Bulldogs’ top 35 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star quarterback Josh Flowers, four-star defensive lineman Terrance Hibbler, and others.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $116K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
